Is Maui the Right Place for Wedding in Hawaii?

Those of us who live on Maui are fond of saying "Maui no kai oi." What that means is: "Maui is like no other." There is no place on earth quite like it.

If you’ve never been here, you will be pleasantly surprised. Still relatively uncrowded, Maui has some of the world’s greatest beaches, postcard perfect for your on-the-beach wedding ceremony.

All of the Hawaiian islands are spectacular. But we believe Maui is the best choice. And the fact that half of all Hawaiian tourist weddings take place on this island probably proves the point.

So Maui is a great choice for your wedding.

Our Maui Weather

Maui’s weather is almost always good. The average daytime temperature is between 70 and 88 YEAR ROUND. That means you can come here in the dead of winter and still swim the beaches. So choose the best time for yourself, and leave the cold weather behind.

Maui is full of fun activities

There's so much to do here! You can parasail or windsurf or go deep-sea fishing. Boogie board or surf. Snorkel We perform last second Affordable Maui Weddingsor scuba. In winter, watch the humpback whales breeching offshore. Drive into a tropical wilderness on the road to Hana.

Play through on a championship golf course or enjoy a fabulous Luau. Shop on Front Street or explore an old whaling vessel in Lahaina. Eat in one of Maui's classy restaurants with ocean-front seating. Ride a bicycle down the world's largest dormant volcano. Discover one of our secluded black-sand beaches. Explore the back country in a four-wheel drive or swim inside the sea caves in south Maui.

Your biggest problem here will be deciding WHAT to do next. Because some of the best activities will be filled if you wait until you come to here to sign up, you might want to book your activities before you arrive on Maui. We can help you book your Maui activities.

The best time to come to Maui

There is virtually no bad time to be on Maui. But high season on the island (when the rates and occupancy are the highest) runs between mid-December and mid-April each year. This is when the "snow birds" show up from the mainland and also when the whales are here.

For the wedding industry, May and June are also high months, so if you’re planning to be a June bride, be sure to book your wedding early to get the date you want. July and August are a little hotter and so the number of tourists goes down, but school is also out for many so that keeps traffic up. Probably the best time to come is between mid-October through early December. It is the least crowded and the rates are best before December 15th.

Where to Stay on Maui

The two best areas on the island are West and South Maui. Although West Maui has a few more resorts, I recommend South Maui (because the climate and beaches are better for your wedding and the resorts nicer than up in West Maui). When you consider booking accommodations, be sure to know whether its in West or South Maui.

The west side is framed against the normally lush and green West Maui mountains centered at the old seaport of Lahaina. There are many great resorts lining the Ka’anapali coast, and you can get married on their grounds but not on the public beach there as the State has banned weddings from it. The offshore islands of Lanai and Molokai offer an incredible backdrop for your sunset beach photos.

South Maui is the dry side of the island least likely to incur a rain storm that might impact your wedding. The resorts in this area are excellent and the many golf courses are all nice and green. It is less crowded in South Maui and there are many excellent free beach locations for your special day.

Save Money on Maui Accommodations

The resorts on Maui are more expensive than the many inexpensively priced condos that are available. They're much more spacious, have more amenities and are usually a third to half as expensive as the resort prices. And many of them have excellent locations right on the beach.

Condos often have full kitchens so you can cook if you desire. Even if you're planning to eat out all of your major meals, it's still nice to have a refrigerator to stock cold drinks, fruits and snacks. The "feel" of most condos is usually very luxurious. They often have several TVs, sometimes a VCR and a stereo system and usually a microwave.

Click on the following button to see a selection of condos in South Maui at which you can stay:

Get married at the beginning of your stay. Why? You don't want to spend your entire stay worrying about your wedding. Get married early, then enjoy your honeymoon without any stress. This way we will more likely to get your pictures back before you leave.

You'll need a wedding license. I'll set up your license appointment with the nearest vendor and give you detailed directions. No need for a blood test.

Have you been divorced? I'll tell you what you need to bring. I can answer most questions about obtaining a Hawaii wedding license.

Are you bringing your wedding dress? You can ship it ahead of time to my vendor, and I'll have her press it for you. She can even help you get it on if you have no attendants.

Don't get sunburned before your wedding! Many couples don't realize how quickly they can get burned. Because you don't want to look like a lobster in your photos, be extra careful about exposure to the sun when you get to Maui.

How to Make Your Maui Wedding Romantic

You've made the commitment to spend the rest of your lives together. Now do it with style. Let me share with you some of the secrets to having a truly romantic Maui wedding. Here are just some of my tips:

Keep your wedding small. The bigger the wedding the more likely that you'll be stressed. Couples who come by themselves or with just a few close friends or family seem to enjoy their moment the most.

Pamper yourself by letting my hair and make-up specialists do your hair and make-up. You won't have to go into a parlor, I'll send one of my expert beauticians right to your hotel or condo. Your fiancé will be speechless when he sees how gorgeous you look.

Dress up in full white wedding gown and formal tuxedo. You can't believe how awesome you will look and feel decked out to the nines, in front of a beautiful Maui beach sunset. You don't have to dress up... but believe me, it makes the whole occasion so much more special when you do.

Increase the romance by releasing butterflies at your wedding. I make certain they won't fly off quickly... they'll stay on your finger and your flowers and add to the enchantment of the moment.

Add to the dreamlike experience by releasing doves. I use an exquisite Victorian cage, and I'll show you how to release them for incredible photography... which you'll treasure for a lifetime as the two of you begin your own new life together.

Choose a decent size photography package. A larger photography package with digital editing and special effects will enhance your images. Ask me about our Maui photography services.

Arrange to have an incredible Maui wedding video of your wedding. Our digital video packages capture the wedding and all the magic of your nuptials including a dreamy montage of your favorite love songs that will bring raves from your family and friends.

Pamper yourselves with an elegant dinner on the beach. This is probably the only time in your life when you will ever have a gourmet meal served to you on the beach by tiki torch. What more romantic way is there to begin your new life together?

Have a musician of your choice entertaining at your wedding. You will feel like you stepped right into the lives of the rich and famous.

These are just some of the many little things that you can do to make your Maui wedding oh so romantic and fun. If you have any questions about any of my suggestions, just ask when you call.

If you can only stay a few days... choose at least a four night package at most resorts and you can get the fifth night free. I know which properties this will work for.

Stay in a condo instead of a hotel room. Why? Because condos are less expensive, offer a full kitchen, a separate bedroom and most are still located in great spots with awesome ocean views.

Eat breakfast in your condo. Eating out every single meal can get expensive. If you are staying in a condo you will have a full kitchen with a microwave and a coffee maker. You can eat breakfast on your lanai — and save money.

Pack some lunches at in your condo. Because condos have a refrigerator, you can make your own lunches for any of your day trips.

Rent an economy car. Unless you don't plan on going anywhere, you'll want to rent a car. There is a lot to see on Maui and an economy car rental will save you money and get you around.
