- Your Maui Minister
& Ceremony
Great marriages are built upon a strong commitment. So you want
a ceremony that will touch your hearts but which will also strengthen
your commitment to each other. It should be worded to reflect
your special feelings for each other.
-
- If you desire a Catholic wedding
the priests on the island all require that you get married in
their respective churches. For Jewish weddings, there are also several lay Jewish
wedding performers. Whatever your desires, we have contacts
to provide you with the type of wedding officiate you desire.
-
Our Main Maui
Wedding Minister
-
-
Rev.
John Souter
-
- John Souter is the main officiant we use on Maui.
He
is a non-denominational minister that has been performing weddings for
over 25 years.
-
- "John, we're glad to have
been the first couple you married. This June we celebrated our 29th
anniversary! When it's done right -- it lasts forever." --Wayne
& Debby Manzo
-
- John will take a personal interest in
you. He'll set you at ease before and during the ceremony. If
you're nervous, he'll probably have you laughing. He talks to
you from the heart and you will quickly see that he truly enjoys
marrying our couples.
-
- John usually dresses informally in "aloha
wear," but he can use a white robe (see picture below left) if you
prefer.
-
- "We w
ould like to
thank you once again for making our wedding so special. We really
appreciate the effort you put into making our day perfect. You
made the whole event a stress free occasion for Marlo and me.
It was nice to arrive in Hawaii knowing that all of the details
for our ideal wedding were taken care of in advance, by you and
your staff. The ceremony was beautiful and perfectly appropriate.
We will certainly recommend you too all of our friends."

- We help you choose
the right ceremony
We have a lot of nice touches in our ceremonies.
John almost always uses a great free-verse poem by Carl Sandburg
that compares your relationship towards a budding rose. After
the poem most
couples exchange leis as part of their vows.
In written form our ceremonies appear longer
than they really are. Each wedding takes only about 10-12 minutes.
These ceremonies will be personalized just for you. John uses both
of your names many times in a personal touch as he unites the two of you
in ma rriage.
You may make changes to your vows and/or his ceremonies,
but because this does take a lot of extra time and preparation, there is a
small fee for this service.
- If you prefer a civil service that focuses upon
the love that has brought you together, we suggest
John's Contemporary Ceremony. Just click on the link to read it.
-
-
-
- If one or both of you have a church background
and you want God to have a place in your ceremony, we suggest
the Spiritual Ceremony. This is our most popular service. Just
click on the link to read it.
-
-
-
- If you are Christians and you want the
Lord as a big part of your wedding vows, we would suggest the
Christian Ceremony which includes several Bible passages from
a modern translation. Click the link to read it:
The more popular our website has become,
the more difficult it becomes for us to assure you that John
will be available for your special wedding day. That's why we
encourage you to call us and begin planning early so we can
guarantee your wedding date.
- Maui Vow Renewals
Many married couples are
looking for a vow renewal ceremony here on Maui. Whether you are
celebrating a major anniversary, (like your 25th or your 50th) or even
just your first anniversary, you can encourage your love committing
yourself to each other once again.
Rev. John Souter performs three vow renewal
ceremonies for married
couples. We invite you to look at these ceremonies below to see which one
best fits
your feelings and commitment. If you prefer a
civil ceremony, one that focuses upon the romantic love that has brought you together,
we would suggest our Contemporary Vow Renewal Ceremony. Read It can by clicking on the link
