Probably not. (Almost all of us could use more income).

What about your financial future? Do you have the kind of investments that will allow you to retire someday (preferably when you're still young), and enjoy life the way you would like? Again, my guess is -- probably not.

Would you like to start a home based business in which you can create a good monthly cash machine for yourself? Who wouldn't. Nouveau Riche University is an incredible new College that is designed to give you the kind of education which you can use to build a long-term financial wealth.

But it also provides a great opportunity to create for yourself an ongoing cash flow simply by sharing your experience with family and friends. I personally know people who are involved in NRU who are earning up to $20K $40K, even $50,000 per month! Now, its obvious that everyone isn't going to achieve those kinds of results, but the fact that it can be done certainly tweaked my interest.

I can't begin to do justice explaining this very interesting program in a short blog. We've been working on this for over two months and this site has a lot of great new articles and features.

The new Maui Me site can be found through this link: Maui Weddings. The site is similar to our older site, but with a lot more attention to detail. The home page, for example gives a lot of great information for those who are new at thinking about having a Maui wedding.

The Maui Wedding Packages section is full of great deals on different sized Hawaii weddings. You'll like what you see. Our weddings are both romantic and affordable, and there is a lot of value in each package.

A whole section in our site on how to select your coordinator is called: Maui Wedding Planners. You'll want to take a look at it.

In addition there are Maui Wedding Locations pages, Hawaiian Wedding Flowers, Services for Maui Weddings, etc.

So take a look at the new Maui Me site where all our brides get their dream Maui weddings!

Susan

Our New Beach Wedding Favors Site

Our Beach Wedding Favors Site

Wedding favors are popular and we know offer a new website which specializes in beach wedding favors for our couples. After a lot of hard work, it is finally up and running! We're so excited about this because it is SO much easier to add photos to this blog then the one you're reading now.

The new blog is located at http://mauime.net

We've already put up three new blog posts for you to read, adding in some new new photos. I like the way the photos in the header rotate so that they're different each time you look at an article. We also have random pictures from the different articles. If you click on the photos, it will take you to a larger version of the photo, and if the photo is in an article, you can see a link to that article below the photo.

We expect that we'll be putting up lots of articles as we get this new blog launched. At the moment, nothing links to it from our websites except this post. Soon, I will have to go into our websites and make all of our links point over to the new blog.

You can subscribe to the feed and you can also sign up for our new mailing list, which will give you Maui Wedding Planner Tips. Although not everything on the blog is perfect, I feel it is a great start, with a lot to come!

New Maui Wedding Blog

Even though we have a wedding every night for six days right now, I'm still working on the new blog for our main company, Maui Me, Inc. I can't believe how exciting this new blog will look.

I have a software developer working on it as we speak, and she's doing a wonderful job of getting me all the features that I have longed for, for so long. Hopefully, we will be able to unveil in within the next 10 days. It will have many new features that our old blogs don't have, but in particular it has the ability to allow us to quickly and easily upload photographs.

I love this feature, because our couples often want to see photos that we don't have on our websites. And I have so many photos loaded now in my computer since I shifted mostly to digital. So it will allow us to be much more image oriented than we already are. And that will be great for our couples, because they will be able to see so much more of what we do.

If you have tried to get an RSS feed to this blog, don't waste your time. We get constant error messages that it times out. And so we will be abandoning it soon. We'll leave all of the old posts up, but we won't link to it any more. If you were actually able to get an RSS feed to this blog, you will want to get our new feed when it is available. As soon as we have the new web address of this blog, we'll have links here in our old blog so that you can change over to it with us.

The prototype for this blog is just so exciting to us; there are some (secret) features in it that will make it so much fun for our couples to browse around for a while. I'm sure that my work is cut out for me once the new blog is ready for posts. I'll have a lot of posting to do to get it going quickly!

This new software is so exciting for me, I am even thinking of using this new format for my Maui Photography website. I haven't really updated the photos on that site for about four years! If you can believe that. And I've shot so many Maui weddings since then, that it seems a shame not to have more of my more recent work on it. But we're so busy doing weddings that it is just hard to add pictures all the time.

So, keep tuned. I'll put several posts in this blog to keep you abreast of the new blog as soon as it is up and running.

John

Busy Season for Maui Weddings

It's been a couple of weeks since I've blogged for two reasons: we've been so busy with our Maui weddings, performing about 25 in the month of September alone. And also because I've been hoping soon to abandon the blogging software we're using in favor of a brand new blog program.

I can't wait to get everything up and running, but it does take time. I am actually paying for a blogging expert to help me install the new program because it has so many neat features that I know you will really enjoy.

To be honest, I hate the look of our blogs. They are so generic. And our new blog will allow us to add our photos from our many Maui weddings, so you can see for yourself what our happy couples look like as they get married. There will be photos everywhere it this new format. You will even be able to click on the photos you like to go the block post that talks about it!

We have another 20 weddings currently scheduled for October and so I have a so many digital images on my computer now that it will be so much easier to give you a better view of what getting married on Maui is really like.

The new blog will also allow us to have categories so that we can organize our posts better. That will help our couples find timely articles on different Maui weddings issues. There are so many different subjects that our couples want information about, and this new blog will be a perfect solution.

I'm hoping that we will be able to get our template up soon. And once its up, our time will be much more efficiently used when we start blogging again on a regular basis.

Maui Wedding Links

Maui Wedding Links are provided on our Wedding Links page on our sister site over on Maui Me. You should know of the extra effort we go to provide great tasting Maui Wedding Cakes for our couples. There are lots of bakers of Hawaii Wedding Cakes here on Maui, but they are certainly not all equal.

We enjoy one company above all of the others for several reasons. Our Maui wedding couples tend to make strong comments about one of our bakers, whenever we use his Maui Wedding Cakes. So we work at using this baker whenever we need Hawaii Wedding Cakes.

We discovered this baker the very first time, eight years ago, when we needed a cake for one of our first weddings. I had gone off the the wedding in a separate car and my wife Susan was bringing the Maui Wedding Cake which she had just picked up. Being inexperienced, Susan purchased a cake at a local market. Fortunately, right before the wedding, she looked into the box and realized that the cake had imploded, splitting into three pieces. With a friend, she attempted to put it back together -- but without success. It was a hopeless mess.

In a panic, Susan asked her friend if she had any suggestions about what she should do. The friend, a long time Maui resident, recommended she go to a local baker who was well known for great pastries. Susan called him and said: "I have an emergency. I need a cake in 15 minutes! I don't care what flavor!"

Fortunately, the baker replied, "Give me 20 minutes and I can get you your cake."

Well, the man came through as promised. And although she arrived a little late, Susan did have a cake. The couple had already told us that they only wanted the cake for their pictures, and this cake did look good. I was surprised when they served each other, as I shot the traditional photos, that they both raved about the cake's flavor. They ended up changing their mind and taking the cake with them!

Ever since that day, we have used this same company for our Maui Wedding Cakes. Whenever we are unable to get his cakes, like when he goes on vacation, I find that my couples don't say much about the taste of their cakes. But whenever I use my preferred vendor, our wedding couples always rave about their Hawaii Wedding Cakes.

Maui Me Site Map

We've prepared a great Map of our Maui Me sister site. Most of those weddings will take place during the last half of the month so we'll certainly be busy then.

We enjoy staying busy and always enjoy working with our different wedding couples. It is such a joy to perform a wedding, like we did earlier this week, for a couple who are so excited about each other. The groom told me, "I'm 37 and never been married!" He couldn't wait for his bride, who was secluded, to walk onto the beach.

That couple was all smiles as I went through the ceremony. And he couldn't keep the tears from welling up into his eyes when we got to the commitment part. When we got to the part where he is to say, "to be my lawfully wedding wife," he grinned. I always tell my couples -- especially when there is a video camera rolling -- not to say, "to be my AWEFULLY wedding wife" (or husband).

If you ever saw the movie, "Four Weddings and a Funeral", you might remember the part where minister asks the groom if he will "awefully wed". Believe me, I've had many couples do that. And when a video is running, you don't want to make that mistake and have to live with that tape for the next twenty years.

Hope things are going well for you and the love of your life.

Aloha,
John
The busy Maui Wedding Planner

Maui Weddings

We are always updating our sites and have recently updated our mainland wedding and related site links. I just recently realized that I had some typos on the article, so I re-wrote it and put it back up on our website.

If you have yet to select your own Maui Wedding Planner, you might want to take a look at this article as it gives a number of key tips to help you avoid the wrong Maui Wedding Planner. Because we've been involved here on Maui as wedding planners for eight years, we have certainly heard a number of sad stories from couples who have had bad experiences. We've been around long enough that we can assure you there are companies which you would be better off avoiding.

Fortunately, most of the Maui Wedding Planners here are reliable and they do offer good services. You certainly want to choose the best wedding planner you can get, at a reasonable price. And of course, we do hope you'll give us a chance to earn your confidence. We can be reached, toll free, at 1-800-856-3270.

The groom at our Tuesday wedding commented to me that he was pleasantly surprised by how much service we performed for them; the fact that we choreographed their Maui wedding on a nice efficient time schedule, leaving lots of time for photography and videography, and then staying with them right up through the sunset to get the best possible photographs and videography really surprised him. We always love to give more than our couples expect.

I hope you'll click on the link and go to my article so you can choose the very best:
Maui Wedding Planner

Maui Vow Renewals - 50 Years

Last night we coordinated a surprise Maui Vow Renewal for a couple on their 50th wedding anniversary. Their kids had a catered dinner for them and their family on the beach, with the biggest limo of Maui, photography, a vow renewal (with their son as the minister), flower arrangements, music, cake cutting, and a fire-knife dancer. The entire affair went off without a hitch.

Afterward, I talked to the 71-year-old groom. I asked how he first met his wife. He told me she was 15 when they met. They fell instantly in love, and both of them knew, almost immediately that they would get married. But because of her young age, they got engaged without their parents knowledge. He bought her an engagement ring which she would put on each evening at the beginning of their dates, and then put it back in the box when they said "good-night." On her 17th birthday they "came out of the closet," announcementing their engagement to her folks, who took if well. (He was surprised). And they were married after her 18th birthday.

That was 50 years ago and today they have kids and grand kids to spare. The groom just recently had cancer surgery and wasn't sure if they could pull off this joyous vow renewal and reunion with their family. You never know when there won't be another anniversary to celebrate, and that's why it is so important to celebrate every one of them in a special way.

After watching just one Maui vow renewal like this, you can see how valuable such an experience is for the couple and their entire family. This is the kind of renewal when I usually do my Legacy Spiritual Ceremony (although in this case their son performed the ceremony because he is a licensed minister). You can see my Maui vow renewal ceremonies here where you can read them for yourself.

Lately we have been doing a LOT of Maui vow renewals. Because of that I added a great new page on our Maui Me website that will give you our Maui Vow Renewal discount prices.

Maui Weddings at the Renaissance Wailea Resort

The Renaissance Wailea Resort has been saying for well over a year now that they will be refurbished soon and that they can't book weddings. The construction dates have changed many times, and as a result, it has been hard to book a Maui wedding at there awesome location. Which is too bad.

But they are currently still allowing weddings at the find location, which you can see at our link here: Renaissance Wailea Resort Wedding. The two pictures we have on our site don't really do the place justice. The grounds are beautiful with ponds, small waterfalls, streams and an island where we actually do the weddings.

Right now, they are offering a $50 discount for any couple who books their location in August. If the booking is for August or September, you will receive another $50 discount off your site fee. If you're thinking about using a private resort location, you might want to talk to use about the Renaissance Wailea Resort.

Maui Weddings

Lately we've been busy booking Maui weddings with many new couples. Generally July and August are slow months for us and we usually plan our vacations for August for that reason. (And we will be off island for two weeks this year in August). So far this month we've been quite busy booking weddings, 22 so far, and five yesterday.

Yesterday was a little crazy. One of those five weddings we booked was a last second affair. The couple was leaving Friday, and we had a wedding both Wednesday (tonight) and Thursday nights. So if they wanted a sunset wedding, the only time we had on our schedule to do it was last night. Susan managed to pull all of the details together, getting them a last moment license appointment (and talking them through getting lost a couple of times) and so that I did actually perform the ceremony for them, and we shot their wedding photography all on short notice.

Today is not quite so crazy, but we've already booked another wedding, so I will be doing two tomorrow night back-to-back up in Kapalua. Whew.

We can always tell if we're being found on the Internet by the number of phone calls we get. With so many websites competiting for Hawaii weddings, it is often hard to get the kind of placement that we would prefer in search engines like Google and MSN.

But we've found that whenever our Maui Weddings websites are being found by couples, which also includes our Maui Me site, we usually do well with our bookings.

Our couples love our prices and they also tell us that our websites have so much information on them so that they can get a feeling for who we are and what we do. And that's the way we like it. We want our clients to feel comfortable, because this is one of the most important decisions of your life, and you want a company who will make you feel good on your wedding day.

Maui Weddings: A Fun Service

Performing Maui weddings is a really fun service for us. Last night I tied the knot for a young couple who were having so much fun. With some couples, you have to ask them to look at each other. I've had couples who have had difficulty looking into each other's eyes for any length of time.

Not so with this couple. As I was performing the ceremony, I had to get them to look back at me, because they were so lost in each other's eyes. And our videographer was shooting them, so I knew they needed to look back in the direction of the camera.

Because I'm also a photographer, I think about these things even when I'm giving my ceremony, i.e. are they turning their backs to the video camera, are they looking at each other too much -- or not enough, are they speaking to low for the microphone. So I will often say my couples names and pause to get them to look at me, because I know they'll enjoy their video more if they look out towards the camera (which is over my shoulder).

When you perform Hawaii weddings for any length of time, as I have, you get to know what looks good and what doesn't in their video and photography. And so we are doing these subtle little things (without calling attention to them) in the background, knowing that the couple will enjoy their memories so much more if they can see their faces clearly in the video and the photos. We want our couples to look good and so we work on that even during the wedding.

And of course, having a couple like last nights wedding makes our job even more fun. They had been together for nine years and just now are getting around to tying the knot. But that still hasn't dulled their love for each other. As a Maui wedding minister, its always so much more fun for me if the couple is deeply in love.

That's one more reason why I enjoy being a Hawaii Wedding Planner.

Technorati tags: Maui weddings
Technorati tags: <a href="http://technorati.com/tag/Hawaii+weddings" 20rel="tag">Hawaii weddings
Technorati tags: <a href="http://technorati.com/tag/Hawaii+wedding+planner" 20rel="tag">Hawaii wedding planner
Technorati tags: <a href="http://technorati.com/tag/Maui+wedding+minister" 20rel="tag">Maui wedding minister

A Flexible Hawaii Wedding Planner

I've been doing a lot of vow renewals lately. On Monday night, I was scheduled to meet my couple and their three kids in Kihei. When they didn't show up on time, I called their cell phone and found out that they were still in Lahaina (about 25 minutes away -- when there is no traffic on the road). But they were still stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic.

I told them to keep coming in my direction, and we would be flexible on which beach we ended up at. I know where all the good beaches are. So I started driving in their direction. We decided that I would call them in 10 to 15 minutes to see what our locations were. As it turned out, I had no traffic at all going towards them, while they didn't move more than about two miles during the same period.

Listening to their description of where they were, I could tell I was getting close to them. Finally, they told me they had passed a mile marker (16) and when I came to mile marker 17, I just pulled over and waited for them to see me beside the road. We were in an area where there really isn't any sand on the beach, an area where people camp and snorkel, but where Highway 30 and the noise of all the cars is right next to the ocean. Because the sun was going to set in about 25 minutes, I knew that we would never be able to go south to get to a sandy beach down there. It just wouldn't have given us enough time to do everything without being rushed.

So we went back another mile or two to a park where there was some sand and a good spot to perform the ceremony and do our photography. It actually worked out very well and they were very happy. The couple had just booked their vow renewal last week.

If I had not been flexible and willing to drive to meet them, we would have had to postpone their renewal for another night. Whenever we encounter anything like this, whether it is traffic congestion or rainy weather or someone getting lost, we always try to be flexible. We know that the important thing for our couples is that we get them married. We always try to keep their spirits up so they can enjoy the day. The exact beach does not matter, as long as we accomplish the most important part of the evening.

I would recommend that you leave early to come to your wedding, especially if you are on the west side where traffic congestion lately has been pretty bad. Better to be early than sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic wondering if you're going to get married or not. Or should I say, "or knot"? ;>)

Magical Maui Weddings

I just performed a magical Maui wedding -- or should I say a miracle Maui wedding. . . The young couple I performed the ceremony only for were for Holland. They spoke very good English, and they booked their wedding with us at the last second, calling us up for the first time the day before the ceremony.

When I met them at the location where we like to meet couples (one that is easy to find so they won't get lost), he was wearing a bright red T-shirt and she was dressed very casually. Not the usual clothes I expect to see from my couples (although I must admit, I've seen just about everything). When we got to the beach and they got ready to do the ceremony, they both took off their T-shirts because they wanted to get married in their bathing suits. He set up a video camera using the nearby rocks for a tripod (which I don't recommend) to catch the ceremony.

The couple was so "cute", if I can use that word. They were so much in love. They kept looking at each other during the entire ceremony, with those star struck eyes. When I finally pronounced them "husband and wife", they lite up. They kissed and danced and I picked up their video camera (which was an old VHS quality camera) and filmed them for a bit while they kissed. Then they ran down to the water and jumped in together. In a moment, a big wave came in and they both body surfed back up to the beach.

I enjoyed watching their exhurbant love of life and love for each other. When we filled out the wedding license we had to be careful, because they didn't even bring a towel and the groom did drip one big drop of sea water on the certificate. As they were filling out their name changes (they each added the other's last name to their own), they told me how grateful they were to be able to do this.

As it turns out, they had been in a car accident earlier in the day. Coming around the West Maui Mountains, near the tunnel, another driver sideswiped their car and sent them up the side of the mountain overturning their car. The next thing they knew, they were upside-down in the car, hanging their by their seatbelts! Fortunately, they were not hurt, only shaken up. Even their surfboards which were on top of the car survived.

The rental car company gave them a new vehicle and they still made it down to the wedding site that afternoon for their wedding with me. Wow. You never know what's going on in someone's life. And it is a little amazing to me that they were so loving at their ceremony. Then again, maybe it's not all that amazing either, considering how close they came to a tragedy earlier in the day.

Maui Wedding Cakes

Yesterday we had a call from someone who found us listed on Yahoo for "Maui Wedding Cakes". He was checking on trying to get a cake for his Maui Wedding for next year. He thought that we actually make cakes, although our webpage is clear that we use one of the best bakers on Maui.

This groom had never even thought through the idea of using a coordinator. They are planning to do everything themselves for their wedding next year. For some reason, many people like the idea of pulling together all of the details themselves. But that can work against them. Every time I go to a wedding (to shoot photography or perform the wedding ceremony) where there is no on-site coordinator, I see disorganization and a lack of continuity that a coordinator usually corrects.

When I'm working as just a photographer, it's nice to have someone pull everything together. As the photographer, whenever I have to shoot a wedding that doesn't have a coordinator, I often end up doing that job myself. (Because I can't stand disorganization). So I end up asking questions and making "suggestions", which are usually accepted eagerly. Because often, no one really knows what to do next.

Having a wedding coordinator at your wedding really doesn't cost that much more. You won't be paying any more for your Maui wedding cake or your other vendors. Most of them give the coordinator a "wholesale" price. So the coordinator gets part of her pay that way.

And if you don't have a coordinator, who will pick up your Hawaii wedding cake? Finding the baker, and then getting the cake to the wedding can be a big job (considering how Maui is laid out). And if the cake is "too fresh" it may just implode. For smaller weddings we make certain that it is in an ice chest so that it stays just cool enough. But how would a visitor to Maui have an ice chest with them? For larger weddings, we make certain that the cake is delivered by the bakery.

We've used several different Maui wedding cake companies, and the one we now use, based upon our previous experience, is the best on Maui. If we have a choice, we don't use anyone else. Again, that experience is something you'll get from a coordinator that you won't get if you "do it all yourself."

Hawaii Wedding Caterer

On Saturday I will be shooting digital photography for a 50th Wedding Anniversary for a couple for whom our Hawaii Wedding Caterer is also going to be providing a catered meal on the beach. We have been using this Hawaii Wedding Caterer company for some and the results are always awesome. If you are looking to do a reception for your Hawaii wedding, you would do will to look into our caterer.

We have been using this Hawaii wedding caterer for about six years and he has never let us down. His prices are great. He is easy to work with. His food is awesome. For our own Anniversary Susan and I had dinner on the beach with this caterer and let me tell you the food was incredible.

One of our couples told us that he had dinner at every high price restaurant on Maui and none of them offered foods as good as what he ate on the beach served by our caterer. I edited every single page (over 40 of them - whew!). I've changed a lot of the link buttons and generally cleaned up the site. But I also add more copy and made the site more useful.

The biggest addition to the site is the Maui Weddings Site Map. This gives an overview of all the many pages on the site with brief explanations about what's on them. This should help our couples get a better idea what Maui Wedding Services we offer and how we price them.

But it should also give our couples a valuable resource for learning about Maui and how to save money, etc. So take a look at the site. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Hawaii Wedding Planning

We have a great Hawaii Wedding Planning page on our 1st Choice Maui Weddings website. It gives information and links to a number of important issues to help you plan your Hawaii wedding. These include:

Hawaii Wedding Planning Date -- the first and most important decision a couple needs to make. When to come.

Hawaii Wedding Planning Time -- The time of day you select will have a lot to do with the photography you'll receive. This is especially important if you want a sunset wedding, which we recommend to most of our couples.

Hawaii Wedding Planning of Your Site Location -- Of course your selection of a wedding site location will have a lot to do with the romantic Hawaiian backdrop that you will later see in your photography, to say nothing about how you will feel when you stand in the midst of one of our incredible Maui tropical wedding locations.

Hawaii Wedding Planning of your Package -- Your wedding package is how you can get a lot of Hawaii wedding services for a smaller price (then if you purchased all of those services separately).

Hawaii Wedding Planner for Larger Weddings -- We discuss so many of the things you'll want to know if you have a larger wedding. Location, weather, chairs, getting everyone to the wedding site, etc.

Again, there is so much on this Hawaii Wedding Planning page that you should take a look at it yourself.
