Maui Photographer Goes Digital
I must say that I am really enjoying shooting digital. At last night's wedding I shot over 200 photographs, which is easy when you know that you don't have to process all those prints. In the end, when I edit down the number of shots that I have taken, I find that my quality goes way up, simply because I have more to choose from.
But there is also the fact that I take a lot of impulse shots that I would normally not shoot. Photo-journalistic style shots. For example, at last night's wedding, the bride's brother held out his small camera at arm's length while he hugged the bride. It was a great shot, with them both looking back at his camera held facing back at them. Of course, that kind of shot isn't on my "shot list"! But when you are not worrying about burning film, you can fire away.
I also like the fact that I have more control over how the finished images are going to look. I can edit them before they go to the lab, so that I do not have to depend upon them so much. All-in-all, I am really enjoying shooting digital more than I do film. And our couples certainly seem happy with the results.
